In an era defined by digital transformation and evolving stakeholder expectations, financial institutions like Banco Santander are compelled to reevaluate their communication strategies, particularly regarding critical documents such as the annual report. Recognising the urgent need to change its approach to annual reporting, Banco Santander approached Bestiario to create a more engaging, interactive, and impactful experience for shareholders, the press, and society at large.

Santander Digital Annual Review

An in-depth, interactive, multimedia report tailor to stakeholders’ needs.

Banco Santander needed to change how it communicated its annual report. The traditional linear format didn’t fit Santander’s vision of a more open, responsible, and digitally-driven banking model. It didn’t engage diverse audiences well and couldn’t effectively show the bank’s commitment to sustainability, digitalisation, and customer focus.

Challenge

Bestiario transformed  Banco Santander’s Annual Review into a dynamic information-sharing system. The new Digital Annual Review offers users an engaging, data-driven interactive report that seamlessly integrates various narrative formats, guaranteeing clarity, precision, and entertainment. The redesign has led to a significant rise in reader volume and engagement time. Multiple interactive experiences have facilitated the tracking and measurement of this year’s annual report reader engagement. Our new digital annual report has been awarded Best Annual Report for two years in a row (2022 and 2023) by the European Digital Impact Awards, and Investor Relations magazine.

Solution

Combining semantic zoom and interactive storytelling, this approach offers users a customizable experience by navigating through varied detail levels and engaging with immersive, interactive narratives, fostering a deep understanding and connection.
