Barcelona's new data portal revolutionizes public access to city information
Barcelona stands out among global cities for its robust data collection and transparency initiatives, setting a high standard for accessibility and accountability. The city’s commitment to making data readily available has become integral to its identity, reflected in the extensive statistical information it gathers and publishes.
Bestiario provided the Ajuntament de Barcelona with a centralised data portal that helped democratize the access to municipal data, making it simple and intuitive for all citizens, regardless of their tech skills.
Given the extensive scale and complexity of Barcelona’s data-driven initiatives, the city required six distinct portals to effectively manage and present its information. Recognising the need for a unified approach, we partnered closely with the City Council to consolidate Barcelona’s public data into a single, cohesive hub. The goal was clear: to facilitate transparent, accessible, and organised sharing of the city’s data with the public.
Our solution has provided the Ajuntament de Barcelona with a centralised data portal that enhances the city’s ability to communicate public information with citizens and the wider world. Now, users can access all of Barcelona’s open data in a single data-hub that prioritises accessibility and visual cohesion. Whether understanding demographic trends, tracking environmental indicators, or analysing economic data, users can navigate through a user-friendly interface that promotes transparency and engagement.
